Mr. Braniff is licensed to practice law by the State of Texas, and holds a Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from the American Institute of Property and Liability Underwriters.  Mr. Braniff has authored articles on both insurance and legal issues.  He has testified on numerous occasions, on issues that include custom and practice in the insurance industry, policy analysis interpretation, ambiguity in insurance policies, claims practices and other matters that involve insurance.

In 1971, after receiving his Juris Doctorate degree, Mr. Braniff entered the insurance business in Houston, Texas where he worked for over 20 years.  He was Executive Vice-President and General Counsel of Braniff & Braniff, Inc., a large regional insurance agency, which provided property, casualty, life, employee benefits, coverages, and risk management services.  The firm merged with Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., one of the largest insurance brokers in the United States.

In 1988, Mr. Braniff initiated his consulting and law practice, with the founding of Texas Insurance Consulting, which provides litigation support and expert witness services, assists clients with acquisitions, sales and mergers of insurance entities; as well as regulatory / technical issues.  The firm also provides business and technical assistance; primarily to insurance agents, insurance companies, financial institutions, attorneys and other firms.

Mr. Braniff subsequently formed Braniff Attorneys / Counselors, a law firm that provides legal advice and consultation services to individuals and businesses.  The firm’s attorneys concentrate their practice in the areas of insurance coverage analysis, representation of clients with respect to insurance issues, , general business matters and corporate services.

Mr. Braniff holds or has held numerous insurance agent’s licenses, as well as a risk manager’s license.

Mr. Braniff is a member of insurance and legal professional associations, including the American, Texas and Houston Bar Associations, the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas and Houston, and a former President of the American Association of Insurance Management Consultants (AAIMCo).
