Richard Faber is a highly experienced insurance professional who possesses a wide array of skills and a distinctive combination of experience, ranging from marketing, and consulting to managing/underwriting a staggering array of risks. His background and extensive experience work together to make Richard a much sought after authority in his field.
Richard began his career four decades ago, starting at the casualty underwriter for USF&G in 1980. He has held various positions within the insurance and risk management industry, gaining experience and skill sets.
In 2000 Richard was serving as Assistant Vice President of Underwriting for American Specialty Insurance Services. In this role, he utilized his knowledge to bring profitability back to the company’s worker’s compensation program in only 18 months, as well as mentoring and training junior underwriters.
Richard served Vice-President, Zone Underwriting Manager for Mitsui Sumitomo from 2006 to 2012. Where he managed their Western United States underwriting operations. He worked directly with risk managers with several major commercial enterprises.
In addition, he has served as Liberty Mutual’s Mountain Region Underwriting Consultant and later as Senior Account Executive for IFG/Burlington Insurance Company where he achieved the lowest loss ratio in Specialty General Liability Unit for 2015 and 2016.
Over his career, Richard had managed or underwritten a wide variety of commercial risks including Major League Baseball, National Football League teams, sports leagues, major manufacturers, wholesale and retail risks.
In 2018 he formed Underwriter’s Resource, LLC as a vehicle to assist in sharing his knowledge and experience with other member and partners in the insurance industry. He is a frequent contributor to the CPCU Society through webinars and in-house CE training. He has been a guest speaker at the Glendale Community College (AZ), The Insurance Journal Academy and Allrisks University.
