Dave has been retained in over 150 cases as a consulting or testifying expert on insurance claim handling standards and practices in both state and federal courts in a variety of jurisdictions, both at deposition and trial. He has been qualified to testify in Washington and Oregon state courts and the United States District Courts for the Western District of Washington and the Eastern District of Louisiana at trial as an expert in the field of insurance claims handling practices. He has provided similar testimony by deposition in other matters.

Dave’s professional insurance claims experience spans more than forty years and includes having personally investigated and adjusted numerous personal and commercial property, liability and automobile claims in multiple lines of insurance. His experience as a front-line claim professional includes, but isn’t limited to, claim investigation, coverage analysis and interpretation, claim evaluation, adjustment, negotiation of numerous fair and equitable claim settlements, assessment of insured damage(s), apportionment of liability, claim reporting and management of claim-related litigation.
At other times in his career, he’s had technical supervisory responsibility for oversight of front-line claim professionals, including supervision of independent adjusters and third party administrators with both front line and first level supervisory responsibility for handling multiple lines of personal and commercial property, liability, automobile, personal injury, and professional liability insurance in conformity with company standards and multi-jurisdictional regulatory requirements.

He’s also had managerial responsibilities, including at the corporate officer level, for issues of claim investigation, adjustment, assessment, evaluation, negotiation, reserving, compliance with claim handling regulatory requirements, reinsurance relationships and related areas.

Dave currently serves as both a consulting and testifying expert, retained by insurers and individual policyholders in cases involving issues of claim handling in accord with fair claim settlement practice regulations of many jurisdictions addressing good faith, reasonable, timely and proper claim investigation and adjustment.

He holds the professional  Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designations and is a past president of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of CPCU and Northwest Environmental Claims Association. In addition, he holds current licenses as an independent adjuster and public adjuster as issued by the Washington State Insurance Commissioner and as an adjuster in both Oregon and Alaska.

Dave is a current member of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Society (CPCU) and the Pacific Northwest Chapter of CPCU. He participates in continuing professional educational development activities sponsored by CPCU and other organizations as well as through active memberships and participation in insurance-related professional and educational activities in organizations including the Puget Sound Adjusters Association, Northwest Insurance Coverage Association, Claims and Litigation Management Alliance and the American Association of Insurance Management Consultants.
